minutes of the last meeting as everyone should have
received a copy this past year. Motion passed.
Treasurer's report.
Carol Krumwiede gave the financial report. The state of
the finances are in good shape. A motion and second to
accept the financial report was made. Motion passed.
National Organizer’s
report. Roy could not be here and asked if his
report would be read. Roy reported 22 active chapters
and 55 active affiliates. Roy complimented all of the
un-recognized trappers and individuals that spend their
personal time and money in support of the Fur Takers of
America. Roy also regretfully declined the nomination
for the position of National Organizer due to not being
able to dedicate the necessary time to honor the
position, but that he will still be available to help
out in any way that he possibly can.
Chairman of the Board’s
report. Tim Rose gave his report and congratulated
Don Hoyle on a great convention.
President’s report.
Chick thanked Don Hoyle and all the members of the
Southwest Arkansas chapter for putting on this great
rendezvous, and called for a round of applause. He said
that this has been a very busy year. The FTA continues
to be more proactive by intervening in the new Maine
lawsuit and other states’ legal problems. The new Maine
lawsuit continues on with the judge having to set a new
trial date. He will share more information as it becomes
available. Again the sweepstakes has been great due to
all the members who sent in their tickets. We
continue to get new members but are behind in renewals.
He reminded all Fur Takers that when they get their
renewal, to fill it out and return it right away. Also
sign up a new member. He thanked all persons, chapters
and affiliates for the donations they made to the FTA
this past year. It is just about impossible to keep
going without these donations. We gladly accept all
donations. He thanked everyone for what they are doing
for the FTA.
He also reported about the
new proactive endeavor that the Governing Board just
approved that has never been done before. We will be on
the Outdoor Channel reaching 28 million subscribers with
educational and informational content supporting
trapping. We will be working with Chuck Sykes, producer
of the The Management Advantage. This program has 13
episodes that will air 6 times each over a six month
period in 2010. This is a costly, but necessary and
exciting endeavor. We will be searching for some
sponsorship to help offset the cost.
