RE: Humane Society of the United States and the WDNR
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am angry at two things that the DNR has done recently. The first is their
partnering with the HSUS on the PSA spots, and the second is their absolute
disdain expressed regarding the hunters, trappers, and fishermen of Wisconsin,
and across the country.
First, HSUS has amassed a fortune by misleading and misrepresenting itself as an
organization that runs animal shelters, when in fact they have worked
passionately and aggressively to end hunting and trapping across the country.
The are clearly the enemy of all outdoorsmen. What they most hope to achieve is
the perception of legitimacy to the donating public. The DNR has done much to
supply just that. It is a slap in the face of every Wisconsin outdoorsman, and
every outdoorsman in our country.
Second, the position that the DNR was surprised by the public reaction is
preposterous. Either the public relations skills of the DNR are horrible, or the
effort was done consciously as an end-around of the taxpaying, license-buying
sportsmen. Either option is unacceptable. The DNR’s absolute disregard for the
concerns of taxpaying constituents once again speaks of completely inept public
relation skills, or worse, truthfully a disdain for the concerns and interests
of the public.
As a concerned sportsman, I must ask that this partnership be publicly
dissolved, and that such a violation of public trust never occur again.
Sincerely yours,
