CHARLES DOBBINS FTA
SCHOLARSHIP
Fur Takers of America offers a yearly scholarship
entitled the Charles Dobbins FTA Scholarship. Money for this scholarship comes
from donations made to the Charles Dobbins Memorial Fund that is jointly
administered through Fur Takers of America and the National Trappers
Association. Each of the organizations will be offering a scholarship.
The $250 scholarship will go to a member of FTA or
immediate relative of a FTA member (wife/husband, son/daughter,
grandson/granddaughter, brother/sister). The recipient must be majoring in
agriculture, biology, wildlife management, or related field at an accredited
two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school. Proof
of high school graduation or pending graduation must be provided. Official
document indicating you have been accepted at a school as a first year student,
registration for classes if you are in school, or something to show us you would
qualify for the scholarship will be required. There are no stipulations on how
the money is used.
We will ask for a short paper telling us about
yourself, your career goals, and how this scholarship would help you achieve
those goals. A committee consisting of Craig Spoores, Rod Scott, and Jerry
Schilling will choose the scholarship winner. The winner will be announced at
the 2009 Fur Takers convention. Deadline for submitting an application will be
June 1, 2009 and should be sent to Jerry Schilling, 21 Schilling Lane, New
Harmony, IN 47631. Request for an application as well as any questions should
be addressed to Jerry by mail or phone
